// Connect to AI  ( 01 )

Bring DoxaEd into
ChatGPT or Claude.

Connect the DoxaEd MCP server and let your AI assistant build and edit timetables, manage the term calendar, arrange proxy cover and more — working on the same projects and data you see in the web app.

MCP server URL

Paste this server URL when you add a custom / remote MCP connector:

https://timetables.doxaed.com/api/mcp

Sign-in is OAuth — you authorize with your DoxaEd account, no API keys.

Connect to ChatGPT

by OpenAI
  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins, and open "Developer mode" at the bottom of the page (the toggle itself lives under Security and login).

  2. Turn Developer mode on. It's tagged "Elevated risk" — that's expected: it's what allows custom, unverified connectors like this one.

  3. Go to the Plugins page ("Browse plugins") and press the + button to create a New Plugin.

  4. Name it (e.g. "Timetable.Doxaed"), keep Connection on "Server URL", and paste the DoxaEd server URL from above. Leave Authentication on OAuth — the settings are discovered automatically.

  5. Tick "I understand and want to continue" — ChatGPT shows this warning for every custom MCP server it hasn't reviewed — and press Create.

  6. Sign in and authorize with your DoxaEd account when prompted; there are no API keys to create.

  7. Optionally set its permissions in Settings → Plugins (e.g. "Allow low-risk actions"), then ask ChatGPT to build or adjust your timetable.

Connect to Claude

by Anthropic
  1. In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings and look for Connectors (or an "Add custom connector" option). Availability depends on your plan.

  2. Choose to add a custom / remote MCP connector.

  3. Paste the DoxaEd server URL from above.

  4. Approve the connection, then sign in and authorize with your DoxaEd account when Claude opens the authorization page — OAuth is handled automatically; no manual keys.

  5. Start a chat and ask Claude to work with your school’s timetable.

The ChatGPT steps match its current UI, but wording and menu locations can shift with updates; Claude's path varies by plan and version. If you don't see these options, look for anything named "Plugins", "Connectors" or "MCP". Adding a custom connector may require a paid plan.

Once connected

What your AI can do

  • Build a school from scratch — classes, subjects, teachers and rooms.
  • Generate a conflict-free timetable and edit any lesson.
  • Import an existing timetable to start from a document.
  • Set scheduling rules, constraints and period structure.
  • Manage the term calendar — holidays, exams and events.
  • Arrange substitute cover and repair absences.
  • Plan break-duty rosters.
  • Review project state and analytics.

Connecting requires a DoxaEd account — you authorize with it during sign-in, and the assistant then works with the very same projects and data you see in the DoxaEd web app.
